Power System Operation Corporation Ltd.(POSOCO) Recruitment of Executive Trainees for Electrical,Computer Science


Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO) was a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) till 2 January 2017. It was formed in March 2010 to handle the power management functions of PGCIL. It is responsible to ensure the integrated operation of the Grid in a reliable,efficient and secure manner. It consists of 5 Regional Load Despatch Centres and a National Load Despatch Centre (NLDC). The subsidiary was eventually made a separate company, leaving the parent firm with only the task of setting up transmission links. The load despatch functions, earlier handled by PGCIL, will now come up to POSOCO. Now POSOCO is fully govt. Company because on 3 January 2017 it was separated from powergrid.



Central Government through Ministry of Power in exercise of the power conferred by sub-section (3) of Sect 26 and sub-section (2) of Section 27 of the Electricity Act, 2003, by notification dt. 27 September 2010 in the Gazette of India notified that the Power System Operation Corporation Ltd (POSOCO), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (a Government Company) shall operate National Load Despatch Centre and the five Regional Load Despatch Centers, with effect from 1 October 2010.





The subsidiary was set up on the recommendations of a government committee headed by G.B. Pradhan, additional secretary in the Union ministry of power. To make load despatch centres financially self-reliant and autonomous, the committee recommended independent and sustainable revenue streams. The move to separate the two functions is in keeping with the provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003, which seeks to separate commercial interests from load management functions. The Pradhan committee had recommended setting up a separate representative board structure overseeing the functions of the five regional load despatch centres (RLDCs) run by PGCIL—the northern, eastern, north-eastern, western and southern regions at that time.(Information courtesy wikipedia)

Mumbai Port Trust is a port which lies midway on the West coast of India, on the natural deep-water harbour of Mumbai, Maharashtra. The harbour spread over 400 square kilometres (150 sq mi) is protected by the mainland of Konkan to its east and north and by the island city of Mumbai to its west.The harbour opens to the south to the Arabian Sea.



The port is administered by the Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT), an autonomous corporation wholly owned by the Government of India. The port is primarily used for bulk cargo, while most container traffic is directed to Nhava Sheva port across the harbour.



Mumbai Port has three enclosed wet docks. Prince's Dock was commissioned in 1880. As of 2008, it has 8 berths with a minimum draft of 6.4 metres (21 ft). Victoria Dock, commissioned in 1891, had 14 berths as of 2008 with a minimum draft of 6.7 metres (22 ft). Indira Dock, commissioned in 1914, had 21 berths, with a minimum draft of 7.0 metres (23.0 ft). Prince's Dock and Victoria Dock are semi-tidal docks, with vessels docking and departing at high tide. Indira Dock has a lock, enabling vessels to enter or depart at any time.

MECON has been appointed as consultants for SAIL's ongoing modernization and expansion projects. MECON is also providing engineering consultancy and project management consultancy services (Construction) to National Mineral Development Corporation for its first 3 MTPA iron and steel plant at Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh. Major delays, mainly caused by bureaucratic processes, have shifted the finalization several years ahead.



 The hughe delays in this project are examplorary for the difficulties that are often associated with India and its difference in economic growth pace as compared to China. RINL-VIZAG Steel Plant has also entrusted MECON for consultancy and project monitoring services for its Coke Oven Battery No.5 Complex and other associated facilities under its 6.3 MTPA expansion program. It has successfully commissioned the Wire Rod Mill 2 of RINL.
